About every two weeks or so, I go through my Instagram and follow all the new people I've met on Twitter. Someone I followed today posted a picture and I thought, "Hell, that's pretty good. I'm gunna follow them."
While I went through my twitter follows and followed people who I thought would be worthwhile follows or ones who I had been meaning to follow but just haven't yet. I scrolled by Frank Chimero's feed and thought, "I'm in." Clicked the follow button. It thought for a second.
And then changed to requested. Huh?
I get why people would want a private account. There are quite a few people I haven't even bothered trying to follow because they have private accounts. If I just follow them on the internet, I'm not going to pretend I know them well enough to warrant following a private account.
But there's no notification or way of telling that this was a private account. And there should be. If I can follow with one click, I should be able to know if it's a private account with one look.
This is a rare missed detail for Instagram. So, can we all agree to tweet them post over and over until it's fixed? Great.
