Over the past four weeks, my girlfriend Heather and I have been moving across the country. Chicago, IL to the Oregon Coast. Two weeks ago, we arrived after nine states and 15 days on the road. Living a four minute walk from the Pacific ocean does not suck.
During the trip, some pretty cool photos came into existence. While I broke out my DSLR for a bit, most everything I shot was on my iPhone. When I settled down and started wading through the couple hundred emails that had piled up while I took time off, I found a dozen or so from friends asking to buy prints.
Prints don't work too well with photos from an iPhone. They look pretty shitty much larger than 10 inches. Solution?
"West" is a 7.5" by 7.5" 66 page book with 66 photos from our trip across the country. It looks pretty damn cool.
Yes, I realize that's a little spendy for books. Trust me, I'm not doing this for the money. I think I make $3 for every book sold? Using an online, print-as-you-go model isn't cheap. Oh well. It's not about the money.
It'll look great on your coffee table. Maybe after looking through the photos, you'll have the urge to come West too. I'd like that. I'll have the coffee and ocean waiting for you.
